Solar Farms – For Your information

Many of you already know about the proposed Solar Farms for which planning applications have been submitted to Braintree District Council but some of you may not know what has been happening.

There is currently one scheme for a 15.7 hectares (38 acres) Solar Farm to be sighted next to Big Deere Wood which has been submitted as a full planning application to Braintree District Council by Sovereign Energy Partners LLP (application number 13/00832/FUL).

A second screening application has been submitted to Braintree District Council for a scheme to be sighted on fields near Shearing Place Farm, at Hickford Hill, by TGC Renewables (application number 13/00010/SCR). This proposed Solar Farm would cover 25 hectares (62 acres) and would be directly next to the solar farm proposed by Sovereign Energy, thus making the total area covered by solar panels over 40 hectares (100 acres).  This application also backs on to several houses and cottages.

A third screening application has been submitted to Braintree District Council for a scheme to be sighted on land at Buntings farm in Pentlow by Push Energy (application number 13/00009/SCR) for a solar farm covering 22.5 hectares (54 acres).

Your District Councillor Mr Julian Swift, your MP Mr Brooks Newmark and your Parish Council are working very hard to fight developments that are inappropriately sighted on good quality farm land or which create unacceptable visual impact on our beautiful countryside and Mr Newmark has created a petition which he will present at parliament.

It is not to late to object to these schemes yourselves and you can do this easily by

sending an e-mail to planning@braintree.gov.uk  or writing to

Development Management, Causeway House, Braintree Essex CM7 9HB, giving your reasons for objecting and making sure you put the planning application number in your objections.
