Harvest Supper – Postscript.

Just to show you how good the evening was, we have a second report about the village Harvest Supper. The first one was written by Lorna White – this one is by Ken Nice.

The photos of the evening have also been posted and can be seen on the photo page.

The festive season of harvest came to a rousing climax on Saturday 20th October with the annual  Harvest Supper in the Village Hall.

Team curate, Rev. Val Gagen got everyone to sing grace and –  “being safely gathered in” – we enjoyed sumptuous food. Main course choices were fish pie, cottage pie or vegetarian lasagne followed by cheesecake, apple crumble, cheese and biscuits , tea or coffee – phew! Liquid refreshment flowed smoothly from Bob Waller’s bar and brilliant musical entertainment from Derek Hall’s flying fingers.

This year new cooks made their debut taking over from Pat James and Val Hastie who were grateful to hang up their aprons. So Lorna White, Rachel Christmas, Fiona Gault and Jackie Jurgens combined to do a thoroughly professional job providing delicious dishes and earning our appreciative thanks. There was a large raffle which contributed to a handsome £525 for Parish Church funds. Special thanks go to all of the above and  to Val Hastie again (who has a management style that invariably ensures success!), to Mary Waite and to Clive Waite and David Busby who were responsible for the clearing up afterwards. But also thanks to the villagers and their guests who came along to make this another enjoyable community occasion
